Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are officially on board The Flash, but they’re currently only writing a treatment for the movie and aren’t attached to direct. Unless Sony manages to woo them with the rumoured Ghostbusters spinoff they’re being eyed for, you have to imagine that they will end up directing though.

Regardless, this is a step in the right direction for the movie which is set to be released on March 23rd, 2018.

By that point, The Flash TV show will be in its fourth season, and Warner Bros. will need an inventive creative team to help differentiate the big screen version of the Scarlet Speedster from Grant Gustin.

Ezra Miller will first play The Flash in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year. He will then be seen in Justice League Part One in 2017. Part Two follows in 2019. One way that The Flash movie could avoid treading on the toes of the popular TV series is by having Miller play Wally West instead of Barry Allen.

Lord and Miller have some experience with The Flash after a LEGO version of the character made a cameo appearance in The LEGO Movie. They also had two box office hits with the 21 and 22 Jump Street movies.
