Treasure Entertainment, in association with Highland Mist Entertainment, are reported by Variety to be in the process of uniting several high-profile horror actors for The Gathering, lead at present by Doug Bradley, Udo Kier and William Sadler.

Currently in talks with producers Mark Heidelberger and Jesse Felsot are Robert Englund and Linda Blair, stars of the original Nightmare on Elm Street and The Exorcist respectively.

The horror genre equivalent of The Expendables, the project has already signed Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses), Danielle Harris (Halloween) and Adrienne King (Friday the 13th) with Jon Keeyes (American Nightmare) tapped to direct with production expected to have started by early next year.

The Gathering’s framing story, ‘The Storytellers’, surrounds a competition in which Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, H. P. Lovecraft and Mary Shelley compete on Halloween night for the opportunity to ‘leave Purgatory for good’. The anthology’s other entries incorporate vampires, zombies, murderers and possessed dolls, all the trappings needed for potentially the best horror picture ever made.
