I’d like to take a minute, so just sit right there, and I’ll tell you all about the reboot for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. That’s right, the series which made Will Smith a star is coming back!

The series ran for six seasons before wrapping up in 1996, and has become a cult favourite since. Of course, it was also extremely popular at the time too, and Smith would follow it up with movies like Independence Day, Bad Boys, and Men in Black. Before you start fantasising about this Fresh Price reboot starring the actor as Uncle Phil, he’ll only be producing.

He’s apparently shopping the series around to various networks through his Overbrook label.

It’s hard to imagine this being a carbon copy of the original, but details are currently being kept under wraps at this stage regardless. It is thought that it will obviously offer a contemporary take on the fish out of water storyline which defined the original Fresh Prince.

There’s really any number of directions they could head in. It could be some sort of follow-up which does end up utilising characters from the original (if Bradley Cooper can show up in the Limitless TV series, Smith could theoretically make the odd guest appearance here too) or something totally new which doesn’t have much in common with what’s come before…
