Some time ago, we heard that Patrick Stewart would reprise his X-Men role as Professor X in the next Wolverine movie. Nothing was set in stone at the time, but the legendary British actor has now confirmed that he will be returning as Charles Xavier alongside Hugh Jackman.

Talking at Comic-Con, Jackman teased an adaptation of Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s Old Man Logan, and while it’s hard to say how Stewart will factor into that (the character didn’t play a role in the comic book series), he’ll definitely be making some sort of appearance.

“There is a project in development,” Stewart teased. “I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me. And the idea of an old Wolverine – I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he’ll make me look better if that’s the case.” How will Xavier still be young at this point though?

Whatever the answer, an adaptation of Old Man Logan has a ton of potential. It’s a shame that characters like Hawkeye, Red Skull, Venom, and any number of others can’t be included because of rights issues, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still capture the spirit of the comic.

We’ll just have to wait and see, but a team-up between Wolverine and Professor X?

Awesome.
