The BFG is receiving rave reviews out of Cannes, and to capitalise on the buzz, Disney has released a new trailer. This one features plenty of amazing footage as Sophie gets to know the giant, while we also get to see and hear some of the other cast members, an impressive ensemble made up of Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement, Rafe Spall and Penelope Wilton.

For more details on what to expect from this adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl tale, below is the official synopsis and comments from Steven Spielberg about working with Disney.

A girl named Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) encounters the Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylance) who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kindhearted soul who is considered an outcast by the other giants because unlike his peers refuses to eat boys and girls.

“In more than 40 years of making movies, I have been on the producing end of a number of films for The Walt Disney Company, but never as a director,” says director Steven Spielberg, making his first kids movie for Disney. The screenplay was written by Melissa Mathison (The Black Stallion, E.T., Kundun), adapted from Roald Dahl’s book of the same name.

Disney’s The BFG is set to be released this July, and this trailer is pretty damn magical…
