A storm is brewing on Apple TV, and it carries the unmistakable scent of dread. The platform has dropped the first teaser trailer for ‘Cape Fear,’ a psychological horror thriller that resurrects one of cinema’s most unsettling tales of obsession and revenge.

This new adaptation is showrun and executive produced by Nick Antosca, with heavyweight backing from Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, the same creative forces behind the haunting 1991 film that still lingers like a shadow in the cultural psyche.

At the heart of the story are Anna and Tom Bowden, portrayed by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, a seemingly stable couple whose lives begin to fracture when a ghost from their past resurfaces. That ghost has a name: Max Cady.

Played with simmering menace by Javier Bardem, Cady is a convicted killer newly released from prison, carrying a vendetta sharpened over years of confinement. The teaser hints at a slow-burning terror, where paranoia creeps in like fog, and every glance feels loaded with threat.

Supporting performances from Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder round out the cast.

The series draws from deep cinematic roots, inspired by the novel ‘The Executioners,’ which first became the 1962 film starring Gregory Peck, before being reimagined in Cape Fear by Scorsese and Spielberg. This latest iteration looks to stretch the story across ten episodes.
