The Amazing Spider-Man franchise is currently stuck in limbo, with Sony’s plans for the franchise still shrouded in secrecy. Are they going to make a deal with Marvel Studios or reboot the series…AGAIN?

That remains to be seen, but it appears as if director Marc Webb is done with Spider-Man for the foreseeable future. After directing a Showtime pilot last year for a comedy called Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, he’s now been hired by CBS to helm one of this Autumn’s most intriguing pilots; a small screen adaptation of Limitless.

The series picks up after the events of the movie which starred Bradley Cooper. Neil Burger directed that and was attached to this pilot episode of the TV series too. However, he’s busy with another small screen project.

He’ll still serve as an executive producer though, with Webb now taking over directing duties. This version of Limitless revolves around the same character from the movie – not played by Cooper this time – with the twist being that he’s now been forced to work with the FBI to help them solve cases. It’s a police procedural!

It’s an odd direction to take Limitless in, but Cooper is going to executive produce too, so the behind the scenes team is certainly impressive. There’s no word on casting right now, but we should hear more soon…
