The film was originally titled Mariah Mundi and the Curse of the Midas Box, and the new title and its colon would suggest that Image Entertainment could well be hoping for a franchise here.
With just a few more months to go before it hits cinemas, Yahoo Movies has launched the new poster, along with a handful of images.
17-year-old Mariah Mundi’s life is turned upside down when his parents vanish and his younger brother is kidnapped. Following a trail of clues to the darkly majestic Prince Regent Hotel, Mariah discovers a hidden realm of child-stealing monsters, deadly secrets and a long-lost artifact that grants limitless wealth – but also devastating supernatural power. With the fate of his world, and his family at stake, Mariah will risk everything to unravel the Curse of the Midas Box!
Barnard, Sheen, and Headey are joined by Keely Hawes, Sam Neill, Ioan Gruffudd, and Tristan Gemmill.
Jonathan Newman (Swinging with the Finkels) is directing from a script penned by Christian Taylor (Lost, Showboy) and Matthew Huffman (Dealing), based on the novel by G.P. Taylor.
The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box is set to hit cinemas in the US on January 10th, 2014. No word yet on a firm UK release date, but here’s to hoping it will land around the same time.
