Sky has revealed a striking first look image from its upcoming Sky Original thriller, ‘Possession,’ confirming the new title for the project previously known as ‘Inheritance.’ The five-part limited event series promises a haunting blend of psychological mystery and historical reckoning, set across the UK and Jamaica.
Created and written by Karla Crome and directed by Storm Saulter, ‘Possession’ brings together a powerful international cast led by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jonny Lee Miller, Sheldon Shepherd and Bel Powley.
At the heart of the story is Claudia (Mbatha-Raw), an ambitious young bi-racial lawyer who travels from Bristol to Jamaica to challenge an inheritance claim. The case pits her against Oliver Connaught (Miller), a wealthy aristocrat, and Cudjoe East (Shepherd), a local man asserting his rights to the estate.

However, the legal dispute quickly slips into something far more unsettling. Claudia discovers that the contested land, Hope Hill, is the very place that has haunted her nightmares. What begins as a professional challenge spirals into a deeply personal and psychological journey, as buried histories begin to surface.
As Claudia and Oliver dig deeper, they uncover a chilling connection between the plantation’s violent past and the systemic injustices still echoing in the present. The series leans into its genre-bending identity, weaving eerie tension with the vivid cultural pulse of the Caribbean.
The ensemble cast expands further with Nadean Rawlins, Sean Gilder, Olunike Adeliyi, Richard Dillane, Diveen Henry, Jack Bandeira, Shantol Jackson, Jeff Crossley and Safina Simpson.
Based on an original story by Jefferson Bannis, ‘Possession’ sets its sights on confronting the lingering legacy of colonialism through a gripping, character-driven narrative.
