Chernobyl Diaries hits UK DVD and Blu-ray shelves earlier this week and to mark the occasion, we’ve been given these seven new images from the controversial movie to share with you! A few of the new images has been captioned by Writer / Producer of the movie Oren Peli who we had the pleasure of interviewing recently. Oren is also responsible for Directing the first Paranormal Activity movie so is no stranger to the horror genre.

Chernobyl Diaries is out to buy now on DVD and Blu-ray.

“Chernobyl Diaries” is an original story from Oren Peli, who first terrified audiences with his groundbreaking thriller “Paranormal Activity.” The film follows a group of six young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an “extreme tour guide.” Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone…

Many people ask where we filmed and how we made the locations look so authentic. Here’s an example of our use of CGI… in this scene we replaced the skies added the entire skyline of Pripyat above the trees, making it look like we’re approaching the real location.
Dimitri and Jonathan chilling out by our cool and smelly Soviet UAZ-452 van. We filmed all driving scenes in van with Dimitri actually driving. The bizarrely designed van has the engine inside the passenger compartment and it smelled horribly of gasoline. We would have to stop after every few minutes of filming and air it out to prevent the cast and crew from getting sick.
In this example, we used practical effects. This fish was made by our props and effects experts. It was remotely controlled and could open and close it’s mouth and twist it’s body.
