Sony are certainly keen to build on their catalogue of ‘Spider-man’ spin offs. ‘Venom 2’ and ‘Morbius’ are both on the schedule to be released in 2021, now they are already looking to the future with a female-focused movie to be helmed by S.J. Clarkson.

As for who the character may be is currently unknown but Variety are reporting that it could centre on the Madame Web comic-book character. The character is portrayed as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and was connected to a life support system that looked like a spider web. Due to her age and medical condition, Madame Web never actively fought any villains. She was a clairvoyant, and precognitive mutant who first showed up to help Spider-Man find a kidnap victim.

The development is at the very stages and as yet has to find a writer and lead actor for the project. It’s reported that Sony want to find an A-list star, with a writer to come after in order to build the story around the actor.
