In an interview with the producers and star (Tobin Bell) of Saw VII 3D, USA Today have learned that Saw VII 3D will be the last entry into the hugely successful horror franchise.

“It’s time to stop”, said producer Oren Koules. “We have told the story we wanted to tell, and this is going to be a great farewell.” It’s a little surprising to hear, especially considering just how successful the franchise has been since it’s debut in 2004. However, it may have something to do with the fact Saw VI earned roughly half that of it’s predecessors, with producer Mark Burg saying the film, “didn’t do what we expected.”

In addition to the interview, which you can read, in full, here, USA Today also posted a new image from the final instalment. It comes after the teaser poster and image we showed you earlier today.

Saw VII 3D, the first in the series to be filmed in 3D, has been directed by Kevin Greutert and stars Tobin Bell, Cary Elwes, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell and Gina Holden.

Synopsis: As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw’s brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror…

Saw VII 3D will be released on October 22, 2010 in the US. A panel will be present at Comic-Con on Friday, where the producers are expected to officially announce the end of the Saw franchise.
