Sam Rockwell (Conviction) has been added to the cast of Cogan’s Trade, an upcoming adaptation of the pulp crime novel by George V. Higgins.

Rockwell will star opposite Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds) and Bella Heathcote (Now) in the story about a mob enforcer trying to track down the thieves who ripped off a high stakes card game.

Andrew Dominik, who worked with Pitt on The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, is attached to direct.

In addition, a selection of other A-list actors, including Casey Affleck (The Killer Inside Me), Javier Bardem (Biutiful), Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Mark Ruffalo (The Kids Are All Right) and Bill Murray (Get Low), are said to be circling the project.

Cogan’s Trade will commence production in March, with a release penciled in for early 2012.
