It may well be easily marketable as Rocky Vs. Raging Bull but there’s a lot more to Grudge Match than that.
The last time De Niro and Stallone shared a screen it was in James Mangold’s much underrated Cop Land and it marked a sea change in how the actor known mainly for the Rocky and Rambo films was seen. It is hoped then the same magic applies here as the two actors take each other on as two boxers settling a long-held grudge in the ring.
Director Peter Segal has compiled a fine cast with Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger and Kevin Hart lining up alongside the formidable main characters.
