As far as middle man jobs go, Paul Walter Hauser’s role as the go-between for filmmakers Clint Eastwood and Spike Lee seems a pretty cool one, as he explained how he connected both directors when he was in London promoting Richard Jewell, where he plays the titular protagonist.

Walter Hauser discusses his attraction to getting involved in the project, and how amazing it was to collaborate so closely with Kathy Bates, who plays his mother. He also speaks about the character, and the man Richard Jewell, and what sort of lasting affect he has had on him, while explaining why he feels this film is a turning point in his career. Finally we ask about Da 5 Bloods, his next movie, with Spike Lee, which leads into the story of how he’s trying to get both Lee and Eastwood into the same room.
