Opening very strong last weekend at the US and UK box office, coming second in the former and topping cinemas on our shores, Rian Johnson’s Looper has earned critical acclaim – you can read our five-star review here – and has now proven to be a favourite amongst cinema audiences.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Emily Blunt lead the sci-fi/action film of the year, which continued to perform well in its second weekend release – if you haven’t seen it yet, now is the time to do so.

And for those of you who have seen it, the writer-director has provided a commentary track for anyone interested in watching it again in theatres:

“I recorded a commentary track to be downloaded, put on an ipod and listened to in the theater as you’re watching Looper. This is an odd thing I tried with Bloom, and have gotten a few requests for it again, so here it is. It is totally different from the commentary track that will be on the Blu/DVD, a bit more technical and detailed. Needless to say, this is NOT to be listened to on a first viewing, or before you’ve seen the film. Also, please work it so that a glowing screening is never out of your pocket during the movie.

Listen to the introduction before heading to the theater, it has instructions. And lemme know how it works.”

Rian Johnson is once more directing from his own script, reuniting with Joseph Gordon-Levitt after his acclaimed directorial debut, Brick, six years ago. We were fortunate enough to be able to sit down with the writer-director and star for an interview, and if you missed them last month, you can click on their names to go back and watch them.

Looper is currently in cinemas in the UK, US, and more than a dozen other countries around the world, with still more than a dozen to come in the coming weeks and months. For now, you can download the in-theatre commentary track here, and we look forward to watching along with the separate commentary when the Blu-ray/DVD arrives. Enjoy.
