Remember last week when we told you that Rambo 5 was dead – because Sylvester Stallone has said so? Well, it appears that isn’t necessarily true. That said, it might be true. We just don’t know! ahhhhhh! So what’s going on. OK, let me give you the facts as I see them.

So, Sly Stallone told Empire magazine that he wasn’t going to be part of another Rambo movie. You’ll remember (if you’ve seen the fourth movie) that at the end of Rambo that we we see Stallone walking  down a very long road returning home after years in the wilderness – literally. In my opinion, this was a perfect end to a journey which had lasted 30 years, for both John Rambo and the audience.

OK, so this is where it gets a little odd. SlashFilm are currently in Cannes at the moment (so are we, our coverage here) and at an event, they received some promotional material advertising Sylvester Stallone on the material – you can see their post here which gives you more info. I was going to write a post on it but I’m glad I waited as this story just got a whole lot more interesting.

So it’s nearly 1 in the morning now in the UK and I really should be in bed but I was obviously up for a reason. Harry Knowles from Aint It Cool News just received a phone call from none other than Sylvester Stallone himself, asking if he wanted to do a Q&A with fans form AICN (Sly, if you’re reading this, we too would like the opportunity if you’re free!) . After talking through the niceties, Harry asked him about Rambo V and why the studio is promoting the project when we all thought it was dead?

Stallone was surprised to hear about the promotional material as he still insist that he’s not going to be part of another Rambo.

AICN: He then told me that the folks behind those posters essentially said that if Sly didn’t do it – someone else would.

So, in a nutshell, Rambo for Stallone is dead, but the project may well not be. We could be seeing another Rambo on our screens again, but seriously, a Rambo without Sylvester Stallone?! Surely not!
