It’s set to be released next February and is based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) parody novel. However, like that movie, it seems like this adaptation won’t be too tongue in cheek.
Taking place in the world created by Jane Austen, it throws the undead into the mix, but won’t be a B-Movie.
In fact, they’re going to approach it in a pretty serious way according to Steers. “The idea was that it was Pride and Prejudice set in this alternate world and then for everyone to play it straight. The movie’s big wink is that there is no big wink.” That’s an interesting approach, but one which could potentially work well.
That’s a sentiment echoed by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies star Lily James. “It’s definitely not camp. Rather than knitting and crocheting, they’re polishing muskets! She’s the most badass zombie slayer there is…” So, The Walking Dead this ain’t, but stay tuned for the movie’s first trailer very soon regardless…
