To celebrate the release of Prey, the latest installment in the Predator franchise coming to Disney+ this week, we sat down with the film’s star, co-writer/director, and producer to find out more. Get to da Choppa!!!

The newest entry in the “Predator” franchise, 20th Century Studios’ Prey is an all-new action thriller set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago. It is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains. So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Chatting to star Amber Midthunder (Naru) and producer Jhane Myers, they tell us about the excitement of the script and its embracing of the Comanche history, as well as having a female in the centre of the world and why this version of Predator is distinctive to the rest. Next, we chat to director Trachtenberg about his love for the franchise, what his initial pitch to the studio was, making a film that was both separate to the franchise but also had some nods to those that had gone before, and why he wanted to make a film that was bruising as well as exciting.
