Super – Blu-ray – £7 – Asda.com

This is one of the most underrated films of 2011 and one of my personal favorites of that year.

Starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Kevin Bacon and Liv Tyler and directed by James Gunn (who previously worked on Slither), the film sees Frank D’Arbo (Wilson), an everyday man become the local superhero Crimson Bolt in order to stop the drug dealer that took away his girlfriend Sarah (Tyler). His quest to get his girlfriend back is only made crazier when the geeky and psychotic Libby (Page) tags along with him as his sidekick, who brings more carnage and violence as the film progresses.

The film received lots of critical praise from both audiences and critics when it was originally released and this is a great opportunity to watch the film and is a good price for those who wants a dark humored, graphic take on the super hero films.

Ghost Rider: Trails and Tribulations – Graphic Novel – £6.89 – Forbiddenplanet.com

With Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance coming to cinemas this Friday, I thought that it would be a good opportunity to mention this graphic novel from Jason Aaron and Simon Spurrier.

This book features four separate stories that all focus around Johnny Blaze and his demonic alter ego as well as other characters that are also cursed by Mephisto, which are all entertaining enough to read. The artwork also offers some nice visuals that complement the stories at times.

While this might interest people who want to get into the comics before the upcoming film, there are other Ghost Rider stories that are worth checking out at around the same price.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations – PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC – £20.00 to £22.99 – Amazon.co.uk

One of the biggest releases for the Christmas holidays last year, Assassin’s Creed Revelations saw you play as an older Ezio Auditore as you hunt for three lost keys to enter Altaire’s hideout. You also play as Desmond, a future descendant of Ezio and Altaire, as he tries to figure out how to wake up from his coma.

Playing as both of the assassins from the series, the developer has included some additional features to add more depth to the gameplay, including levels where you have to play the game in a tower defense style, new tools to grapple on walls and pull down enemies and an improvement on the online modes for those that have played any of the previous games.

Some copies of Revelations also comes with a free copy of the first game that makes it a very good package for under twenty five pounds that will make this a good purchase for fans of this great series.
