Well, it’s not just Marvel Studios that’s capable of attracting A-List talent after all! The Wrap reveals that Academy Award winning actress Nicole Kidman is in negotiations to join the cast of Wonder Woman in a role they describe only as, “a high-ranking Amazonian warrior.”

Common sense says she’ll be playing Hippolyta, the ruler of the Amazons and mother of Diana Prince. However, the fact that there’s another Amazon in Wonder Woman obviously points to the movie paying a visit to Paradise Island/Themyscira. Based on recent rumours about the plot, that actually makes perfect sense, and it adds an exciting new dimension.

As long as the deal closes, Kidman will be joining a cast which so far includes only Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. Sean Bean and Eva Green have been rumoured to be in the running for roles, while it’s also thought that Ben Affleck will make a brief cameo appearance as Batman.

Wonder Woman will be seen on the big screen for the first time in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year. 2017 will then be a busy year for the hero as she stars in her own solo movie and Justice League Part One. Patty Jenkins is directing the Wonder Woman movie from a script by Pan scribe Jason Fuchs. We’ll hopefully get more casting news soon!
