During the 2018 CinemaCon conference in Las Vegas last night, Paramount Pictures CEO Jim Gianopulos announced at least two more Star Trek movies are in the works at the studio.

Whilst showing off their latest slate of films for 2018, the announcement came as a total surprise to the press that were in attendance. Unfortunately, for those of us wanting to know more no further information was forthcoming. Whether the current cast in the latest timeline will return is anyone’s guess, and as for a director or screenwriter, all we have are those stories that Quentin Tarantino has put together a treatment for his take in the latest saga.

At the beginning of April, Zachary Quinto revealed there were three scripts being worked on at the moment.

“First of all, I think there’s a couple of scripts. Because there was a script being written before Quentin Tarantino came up with his idea for a potential film. And so I think they are kind of developing more than one. So I don’t know what is going to happen. Quentin is off doing another movie.

So, I feel like we are in a state of anticipation. All of us are really excited about the idea of working with Quentin on a Trek film, but I know Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, who wrote the last film, are writing a script and there are another set of writers writing a script. So I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Last month we also had the chance to speak to Simon Pegg who also weighed in on the Tarantino script, divulging that he doesn’t think the script would be as R rated as you would expect. Watch the clip below to hear what he had to say.
