Despite the underperformance of 2016’s Star Trek Beyond, the desire for the Enterprise crew to reunite for a fourth film has certainly not gone unmissed. Rumours have been circling ever since the film dropped, whether it would return and even Quentin Tarantino has been confirmed to be working on a script.

Although the cast contracts have since lapsed, a number of the crew have expressed their interest in returning. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly Canada, the franchise’s young Spock, Zachary Quinto, revealed a further update on its return, disclosing that at least three new scripts were in the pipeline.

“First of all, I think there’s a couple of scripts. Because there was a script being written before Quentin Tarantino came up with his idea for a potential film. And so I think they are kind of developing more than one. So I don’t know what is going to happen. Quentin is off doing another movie.

So, I feel like we are in a state of anticipation. All of us are really excited about the idea of working with Quentin on a Trek film, but I know Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, who wrote the last film, are writing a script and there are another set of writers writing a script. So I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Plans may still be a bit up in the air as to which direction a fourth instalment might go, or even if any of these scripts may even see the light of day, but its obvious fans still have an overwhelming thirst to see more.

We recently caught up with Simon Pegg at the Empire awards and he gave us a little insight into the possible Tarantino script.
