Jack-the-Giant-Slayer-PosterJack the Giant Slayer is set to hit the big screen in Spring 2013, and promises to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the season, in budget, scope, and hopefully box office numbers.

Bryan Singer (X-Men) returns behind the camera for the film, which saw its first official trailer – following the release date and title change (previously titled Jack the Giant Killer) – launched last month.

With only a few more months to go before it hits the big screen, we’ve had the new UK variant of the poster sent our way, with the young Jack looking pretty small against a much larger foe.

“An ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult), into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend… and gets the chance to become a legend himself.”

Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class) takes the lead as the eponymous Jack, starring alongside a brilliant cast, headed up by Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, Eleanor Tomlinson, Ian McShane, John Kassir, Ewen Bremner, and Eddie Marsan.

Singer is directing from a script written by Dan Studney (Reefer Madness), Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After), and Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects).

Jack the Giant Slayer will be hitting the big screen in 3D and IMAX 3D in the US on 1st March, 2013, before coming to our shores slightly later for a 22nd March release in the UK. For now, here’s the latest poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
