It’s only a small image of Gary Oldman in Tomas Alfredson’s much anticipated adaptation of John Le Carre’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but it’s Gary Oldman so of course it’s worth taking a look at.

Oldman is joined by Colin Firth, Toby Jones, Ciaran Hindes and the wonderful Kathy Burke, as well as man of the moment Tom Hardy, and Alfredson’s approach to filming is appropriate for the film’s subject matter.

Speaking the ebuillient Baz Bamigboye (that’s him on the right) of The Daily ‘Mail’ Oldman told of long lenses,

It was as if he was eavesdropping, like a peeping Tom, which is what you sort of want for a spy film

Oldman also swatted away the insinuation that there would be high-octane car chases in the film (sigh), clarifying,
They’re in the mind; there are no real car chases, rather it’s like a high-stakes chess game with everyone watching how the other person moves.I’ve played so many of these big extrovert characters, and it was the prospect of doing something that is so still, so quiet,

So, car chases in the mind? I can see the tagline now: Fast Five Meets Inception. Bet on it. Here’s your pic.

Here’s everything we know about the project so far, including further images of the eminent cast and some on set shenanigans.
