Poor old Raiden, he’s not really having a good time int he gaming world. When he was introduced in Metal Gear Solid 2, fans went crazy, but that was years ago. Fast forward to 2012 and Raiden again is the hot topic in terms of Metal Gear Games.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance started life as the next big Metal Gear game, but has since been flipped upside down and turned into an all out hack and slash game from the people who bought you the excellent Bayonetta. This of course has got fans in an uproar again.

Kojima Productions are well aware of the potential backlash and have teased that new details will be revealed next week, details that will make fans come around to the new concept.

In the Kojima Productions report number 159 staff talked about the new Metal Gear game.

“As we release more information, I think more people will come around. What we showed at VGAs was just the first reveal. Really we didn’t show much.”

and of course went on to tease about the new details

“We will be revealing more very soon. Maybe… next week, possibly?”

And finally another staff member talked about what we can expect when the new details are released next week.

”We will delve more into the gameplay and what you can expect. Keep your eyes open over the next few weeks, you’ll be seeing a lot interesting things, and hopefully it’ll get you excited leading up to E3. Needless to say, we’re not doing this [the production of the game] half assed.”

As for the original incarnation of Metal Gear Solid: Rising, that game isn’t dead and buried just yet, there is still a chance we could be seeing the game in the future

“It had a lot of cool ideas (…). From our perspective, that story still exists. We didn’t abandon that story. It’s on a shelf right now, we may revisit it at some point in the future, there’s always that possibility. (…) We’re not throwing it away.”
