Bringing to an end one of the best and most memorable trilogies of all time, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises lit up the box office this year, boldly crossing the bn. mark to enter that elusive club that has a very small membership.

It’s been by far one of my favourite films of the year, and with the film due out on Blu-ray/DVD in less than a month, Warner Bros. have released the second trailer for its home entertainment release.

One main thing that the release is missing that a lot of people were hoping for is a commentary from Nolan, but that of course won’t change the fact that I’ll be buying it the day it hits the shelves (or, pre-ordering it and hoping it will arrive a few days early).

“”The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.”

Christian Bale of course reprises his role as Bruce Wayne / Batman for one final outing, joined by one of the strongest casts in recent memory, headed up by Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and Marion Cotillard.

Which is a whole lot more than the DVD copy will get you.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released on Blu-ray/UltraViolet and DVD/UltraViolet in the UK on 3rd December, with the US release following a day later on 4th December (and also including a Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet combo). There are also a handful of special limited edition releases – the Bat Cowl edition is my personal favourite – that will likely sell out very quickly, so be sure to get your pre-orders in early.
