To celebrate the return of Miss Scarlet and The Duke, which returns to Alibi this week, we had the pleasure of reuniting with the stars of the show to find out about the “difficult second album”.

The second series picks up one month from the end of the previous series. Eliza (Kate Phillips) has solved her father’s murder, her relationship with William, the Duke, (Stuart Martin) continues to slowly simmer, and Eliza continues to face the challenges of being a professional woman in a male-dominated Victorian London. Eliza is hired by the sister of a missing woman for her first case in this series. Her task is to find the woman, but the case was already closed by the police, so the tension between Eliza and the Duke ensues.

Chatting to us last month, Martin and Phillips talk about the reaction and success of season one and the new pressures it puts on the show, their excitement at returning and what comes next, exceeding expectations and continuing to subvert the genre and push boundaries as well as whether fans will finally get an answer to the “will they, won’t they?” of it all.
