With a win at the Golden Globes behind him and an Oscar nomination announced earlier today thanks to the critically acclaimed Birdman, 2015 is shaping up to be a great year for former Batman star Michael Keaton.

The actor is now in talks to star in The Founder, the surprisingly dark story about the rise of the McDonald’s fast food empire. John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks) is directing from a script by Robert Siegel (Big Fan).

The Founder will tell the story of the ruthless Ray Kroc (played by Michael Keaton), a salesman from Illinois, who met Mac and Dick McDonald, the owners a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers’ speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire.

The tone of the script is described by the site as similar to The Social Network and There Will Be Blood.

This would be another potential award winning role for Keaton. Birdman has kick started something of a career resurgence, and he recently entered talks to star in Legendary and Universal’s Kong: Skull Island.
