Okay. Enough now. We’ve had Aliens vs Predators, Freddie vs Jason, Monsters vs Aliens, Werewolves vs Vampires. Before long we’ll get to see Cowboys take on Aliens, period-costumed posh types take on zombies and Abraham Lincoln start hunting vampires. We can only mash this stuff up for so long before we create a black hole of self-reference and suck ourselves into oblivion.

Apparently, Sony have acquired the rights to a spec script adaptation of the comic book “Zombies vs Robots” and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes company are going to produce it. The story is to be about the last girl left on Earth who is being protected by robots from an intelligent, evolved horde of zombies. Quite why they don’t just eat each other, or die off like the infected in 28 Days/Weeks Later, I do not know. Sorry, not sure why I’m trying to apply rationality to a film about zombies and robots. I guess it will be either utterly cool or horrifically bad.

What do you think? Are you in the mood for more “vs” action? Who do you think would win? What mash-ups are we missing? Zombies vs Aliens, Cowboys vs Robots? Let’s get some healthy debate going in the comments below.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
