A Funko Pop representative could have just let the cat out of the bag on a previously unmentioned actress, Lupita Nyong’o, being attached to the Ron Howard helmed untitled Han Solo film.

Funko Pop, who make and sell Star Wars characters, recently, took part in the Steele Wars Podcast in which they were discussing the toy company’s involvement with the Star Wars franchise and his excitement for the upcoming Han Solo spin-off and citing the impressive cast list of “Emilia Clarke, Lupita Nyong’o, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson“.  However, as of yet, no mention of Nyong’o, who played Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and a blink and you’ll miss it outing in The Last Jedi has come to light for the Han Solo venture.

We already know that Alden Ehrenreich will take the lead as a young Han Solo, as well as Donald Glover as Lando, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca returning as familiar faces. Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge are all new faces to join the ever growing saga as brand new characters.

Could this just be a mistake on the part of the representative or have Lucasfilm, Disney and everyone else associated with the spin-off been keeping us deliberately in the dark?

Han Solo Maz Kanata

Although information on the character Maz Kanata is sparring, we do know that she has some kind of history with Han. The character was introduced in the Force Awakens as the owner of a cantina-like castle and sage advice giver to Rey. Kanata spent centuries travelling the galaxy, collecting antiques and trinkets which she kept inside the storehouses and vaults of her castle. One notable item was the lightsaber crafted by Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and later wielded by Skywalker’s son, Luke, who was instrumental in toppling the Galactic Empire.

Only being a rumour at this stage we’ll be keeping a close eye on any further developments.
