Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-LogoMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy marks the first original film in their upcoming slate in Phase Two, and naturally there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding the action/sci-fi blockbuster.

The studio officially confirmed that their previously secret 2014 feature would indeed be Guardians back in July, and within the space of a month, James Gunn (Super, Slither) was coming on board to take the helm.

Whilst we eagerly await confirmation on who’ll be leading the cast, with talk of Jim Sturgess, Eddie Redmayne, and more testing for the role, Screen Daily are now reporting that the film will be shooting here in England this summer.

The film is reportedly set to set up shop at Shepperton Studios, part of The Pinewood Studios Group, where Thor: The Dark World has recently been filming, and where Captain America: The First Avenger was also filmed.

Gunn will be directing from a script penned by Nicole Perlman and Chris McCoy, with Gunn also thought to have had a hand in writing after coming on board.

The plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but Kevin Feige did confirm that the line-up will consist of StarLord, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Racoon, Groot, and Gamora.

If the film is indeed expecting to shoot here over the summer, then the odds are very good that we can expect to hear some firm casting news very soon, hopefully in the next few weeks.

We’ve got nothing but love for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and can’t wait to see how Gunn handles the first original film in Phase Two, following Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Guardians of the Galaxy will be hitting the big screen on 1st August, 2014, which really can’t come fast enough. More as we get it.
