Captain-America-The-Winter-Soldier-Phase-Two-Concept-ArtWith Marvel and Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 opening to huge numbers in the US over the weekend, and racking up its global cume to well over half a billion dollars to date, excitement for Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has of course been building momentum nicely.

Phase Two has kicked off brilliantly with Iron Man 3, and will be continuing this year with Thor: The Dark World, followed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier next spring, Guardians of the Galaxy next summer, and The Avengers 2 closing things out at the start of Summer 2015. And to help make the wait a little easier, Marvel have released a new image from Thor: The Dark World, along with a couple of pieces of concept art from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Last month brought with it our first look at the next instalment in Phase Two, Thor: The Dark World. The epic first trailer had the Internet ablaze when it landed last month, and Marvel are following it up here with a new image of Chris Hemsworth in the lead.

We got our first official look at Chris Evans reprising his role as the titular Captain America when production began last month, and these brilliant pieces of concept art by Ryan Meinerding give us a look at the flip side of the title, The Winter Soldier.

And finally, we have a brilliant official piece of concept art by Charlie Wen for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which is the only (and highly anticipated) original move in Phase Two. You just know it’s going to be incredible, for so many reasons. Last we heard, Ophelia Lovibond had boarded the cast, with Lee Pace reportedly in final talks to star as the antagonist. And we’re hoping that we’ll hear some concrete casting news for the entire Guardians roster very soon.

Thor: The Dark World will be continuing Phase Two first, with its release date set for 30th October here in the UK and November 8th in the US. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be next, set to debut on April 4th, 2014. And then it will be Guardians of the Galaxy, hitting on August 1st, 2014, before The Avengers 2 drops on May 1st, 2015. For now, here’s the new look at Hemsworth reprising his role as Thor, followed by the new pieces of concept art from Phase Two in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is all going to be immense.
