Writer/director Makoto Shinkai’s latest fantasy anime Weathering With You is released in UK cinemas on Friday 17th January. His follow up to the widely revered Your Name tells the tale of teenage boy Hodaka who runs away to Tokyo and meets Hina, a girl with supernatural, weather changing powers.

Ahead of Weathering With You’s release, we met with Shinkai at London’s St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel to discuss his film’s inception, production and challenges.
