Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills returns us to the world of his cult hero, who began life in a fake trailer attached to Rodriguez’s and Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse.
Danny Trejo is back once more as the titular character, and is joined by another stellar cast.
The first images of Amber Heard and Alexa Vega, along with the first character poster for Lady Gaga, more than suggest that the female figures in this film are going to be pretty deadly. And to top it all off, a new character poster for Sofía Vergara has surfaced, taking the idea to a whole new level of deadliness.
In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
Starring alongside Trejo, Heard, Vega, Lady Gaga, and Vergara will be an awesome cast, led by Charle Sheen, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson.
Rodriguez is directing from a script penned by Kyle Ward, based on a story by the director and Marcel Rodriguez, his brother.
Vergara has been making a name for herself in recent years in Modern Family, and I’m looking forward to seeing her starring as one of the antagonists in Machete Kills. Especially armed with insane weaponry like this.
Machete Kills will be released in the US on 13th September, which is definitely a date to commit to memory. Still no word yet on the UK release date, but hopefully we’ll be seeing it at around the same time. For now, here’s the latest character poster, with Vergara looking pretty intense. Not someone you’d want to cross paths with in a dark alley.
