Kathryn Bigelow’s highly-anticipated follow-up to the Academy Award winning The Hurt Locker looks set to be picking up pace with Bigelow, along with writer Mark Boal and producer Grant Hill being photographed location-scouting in Brazil.

Nation Films reported the team’s visit to Brazil, while also noting that the project is now called Sleeping Dogs, instead of  it’s working title Triple Frontier.

Sleeping Dogs will be a drugs-parable, utilizing the same “raw and visceral style” that made The Hurt Locker so unique and breathtaking.

In terms of casting, it was reported earlier this month that Bigelow and Paramount had met with actors such as Will Smith, Javier Bardem, Sean Penn and Christian Bale.

Sleeping Dogs will be a co-production between Nation Films and Paramout, with filming expected to commence as early as December 2010/January 2011.
