Reuniting after twenty years, Kate Winslet is all set to join her Titanic director, James Cameron on the upcoming venture into the Avatar universe in a major starring role.

Which, out of the four sequels that are now in production she will be starring in hasn’t been made but Cameron stated that the pair had been looking to work together for a while,

“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career, I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”

Back in 1997, Cameron’s Titanic paired a young Winslet with a young DiCaprio giving both their careers a huge platform to rocket, the film also became the highest grossing film of all time until Cameron smashed his record with Avatar in 2009.

After Winslet’s performance as Rose in Titanic, she has gone on to star in pivotal roles throughout her career since and garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of Joanna Hoffman alongside Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs. She also won her first Golden Globe in 2008 for her supporting role as an ex-German prison guard, Hanna Schmitz in The Reader. She will also be starring opposite Idris Elba in this weeks release of The Mountain Between Us.

Winslet will be joining returning cast members, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang as well as a host of next-generation avatars. Production for all four Avatar sequels started on the 25th of September with the first picture due for released December 18, 2020. The further three sequels will follow on Dec. 17, 2021, followed by Avatar 4 on Dec. 20, 2024, and Avatar 5 on Dec. 19, 2025.
