Everyone is currently talking about the box office success of Deadpool, but it’s worth noting that Kingsman: The Secret Service also impressed last year when the R-Rated adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ comic book series earned an impressive $414 million.

Matthew Vaughn is returning to direct the sequel which is also set to bring back Taron Egerton as the action moves from London to the United States. Little is known about the plot right now (especially as Millar never actually penned a follow-up to the first volume), but The Hollywood Reporter reveals that plans for Colin Firth to return in some form have been scrapped. That means no flashback or evil twin brother; he’s going to be staying dead.

That’s a shame, but isn’t the end of the world as it has been revealed today that Still Alice and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay star Julianne Moore is in talks to play the lead villain!

Moore Please: The Incredible Career and Exciting Future of Julianne Moore

Details about who Moore will play in Kingsman are being kept a closely guarded secret, but it’s fair to say that she’ll make a fitting replacement for Samuel L. Jackson’s big bad from the first movie. With production set to begin on Kingsman 2 soon, we’ll hopefully get some official news on what’s in store for this sequel at some point in the next few months.
