When the film history books are written and the early 21st Century heads up a volume the old-age action hero will comprise a nice chunk of what Hollywood got up to post Y2K.
Not least the burgeoning action sub-genre gives our aging actors the chance to feel virile and have a few more years as a leading man.
With Taken, RED, The Expendables and more recently The Gunman, John Wick now quietly enters the fray, however there is something special about the film from directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski. Not only does Keanu Reeves prove the perfect zen-attaining (former) hitman but the action is relentless, well shot and very powerful.
