With new film The Ward (his first in almost 10 years!) currently doing the rounds at various festivals, it look’s like John Carpenter is already planning to get back behind the camera again. /Film is reporting that the director’s next feature will be a comic book adaptation Darkchylde.
Created by Randy Queen in 1996, it’s the story of Ariel Chylde, a cursed teen who can turn herself into the creatures from her nightmares, who must save her small town from the forces of darkness she’s set free. Crikey!
Embedded below is actual test footage for the film, created by none other than Peter Jackson’s WETA studios. Sounds like this meeting of two minds from the fantasy genre could yield some interesting results.
