You might say the likes of John Boyega have already have reached the stratosphere with his recent role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens but the Attack the Block star has appeared in the short-list for the 2016 BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Boyega joins Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson, Bel Powley who recently appeared in The Diary of a Teenage Girl and a Royal Night Out and Brie Larson who continues to shine brightly in her astonishing recent role in Room. The Kingsman: A Secret Service star Taron Egerton rounds up the brilliant list all of whom deserve to win in their own right. Egerton is currently working Robin Hood: Origins and recently completed his role as Eddie the Eagle in a biopic based on the British ski jumping legend.

Previous winners of the award include James McAvoy, Tom Hardy and Jack O’Connell. The awards ceremony takes place in London on February 14th and the full list of nominees is released this Friday 8th Febraury.
