As The Hobbit finally nears production, Deadline brings word that popular UK TV star James Nesbitt has joined the cast.

The Cold Feet actor will play the part of Dwarf Bofur, alongside newcomer Adam Brown, who has been cast of fellow Dwarf Ori. The film’s director Peter Jackson has issued this statement about Nesbitt’s involvement:

“James’s charm, warmth and wit are legendary as is his range as an actor in both comedic and dramatic roles. We feel very lucky to be able to welcome him as one of our cast.”

Nesbitt and Brown join the like of Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage and ex-Eastender Robert Kazinsky for Jackson’s long-delayed adaptation of this prequel to his blockbuster trilogy.
