James Marsden has officially signed on to star in the upcoming thriller series ‘Disavowed’ for Apple TV, stepping into the world of espionage, betrayal and high-stakes international pursuit.

The series follows legendary CIA Case Officer Brad Griffin, played by Marsden, who is abruptly fired in the middle of a worldwide hunt for a mysterious assassin responsible for killing one of his colleagues. Suddenly cast out from the intelligence community he once thrived in, Griffin decides to pursue the assassin himself after learning there is a 15 million dollar federal bounty attached to the target.

With his reputation shattered and former allies now out of reach, the series promises a tense cat-and-mouse chase wrapped in political intrigue and dangerous double-crosses. The setup carries the sharp-edged pulse of a spy thriller with the lonely desperation of a man trying to claw his way back from exile.

‘Disavowed’ is based on an original idea created by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who will both executive produce the series. Tom Spezialy and Marsden also serve as executive producers.

The project is being produced by Blue Marble Pictures, with Theresa Kang and Caroline Garity executive producing alongside the creative team. Apple Studios is producing for Apple TV.
