Fox are expanding their world of Marvel by developing a new film with another X-Men comic book character, Multiple Man with James Franco lined up for the starring role.

The new venture already has Wonder Woman scribe Allan Heinberg on board to write the script with Simon Kinberg and Genre Films producing alongside James Franco’s Ramona Films.

Expanding on the X-Men Universe after it has already proven successful with the Franchise and its spin-offs that include Wolverine and Deadpool, Multiple Man is another character based on this universe. Multiple Man is Jamie Madrox, who, in the comics, conveyed his cloning powers at birth, when a second, identical version of him appeared after the doctor slapped the infant to get him to breathe.

His father, a worker at the Los Alamos Nuclear Research Center, moved his family to a remote farm where his son — fitted with a special suit to control his powers designed by X-Men patriarch Professor Xavier — lived quietly until the suit malfunctioned and he began to go crazy. His cloning abilities drove Madrox to have various collisions and collaborations with both the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

The new spin-off is said to have spurned whilst Franco and Kinberg were collaborating on another film, The Hardy Men which is being put together as a vehicle for both James and Dave Franco to play adult versions of the venerable teen sleuths The Hardy Boys.

Fox is still drilling deep on the X-Men universe front, At least three films are already lined up one way or another in Josh Boone’s The New Mutants, David Leitch’s Deadpool 2, which saw a very cheeky trailer released this week and the Kinberg directed X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Channing Tatum’s Gambit is also still bubbling away in the background with Gore Verbinski at the helm.
