Over the last few months, casting announcements for IT: Chapter 2 have been drip feed to the franchise’s anxious fans. Over the weekend, the final adult cast member to round out the cast has been announced as Shadowhunters’ Isaiah Mustafa.

Mustafa joins the cast to take on the role of the adult version of Mike Hanlon. The rest of the cast line up will see James McAvoy will be playing Bill Denbrough, Bill Hader is Richie Tozier, James Ransone is Eddie Kaspbrak, Andy Bean is Stanley Uris, Jay Ryan is Ben Hanscom and Jessica Chastain is the new Beverly Marsh.

Director Andy Muschietti is returning to direct a script from Gary Dauberman. The story is said to see the adult characters from the first movie returning to Derry as adults to confront Pennywise and the young cast is expected to return for at least one flashback.

The 2017 adaptation of part of the 1986 Stephen King classic told the story of seven children in Derry, Maine, who are terrorized by the eponymous being, only to face their own personal demons in the process. The novel was also previously adapted into miniseries in 1990 with the wonderful Tim Curry as Pennywise.

The film starred Jaeden Lieberher and Bill Skarsgård as Bill Denbrough and Pennywise (and is expected to return for the sequel) the Dancing Clown, respectively, with Sophia Lillis, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, Nicholas Hamilton, and Jackson Robert Scott in supporting roles.

It: Chapter Two is scheduled to begin production in July and is set to be released by Warner Bros. on Sept. 6, 2019.
