Jack Bender is clearly a fan of the name Jack. With Lost over and Jack Shephard finally somewhere, the director has set his sights on Jack Ryan reboot “Moscow”.

The project, which has been linked to the likes of  Sam Raimi, Gore Verbinski, Timur Bekmambetov and Kevin MacDonald over the years, recently added this surprise candidate to the list according to Vulture.

An executive producer on Lost, Bender was responsible for many of the shows most memorable episodes as well as episodes of The Sopranos, Carnivale and Alias. With reports that he is close to landing the post, Bender looks set to add to his feature filmography for the first time since 1991’s Child Play 3. The director can hardly be deemed inexperienced however, with Lost frequently taking a turn for the cinematic and action packed.

Chris Pine (Star Trek) has already been cast in the lead role, the plot following a young, pre-CIA Ryan as is framed by a villainous Russian billionaire attempting to attack the US economy. Filming is expected to commence later this year, prior to Pine’s commitments to Star Trek 2.
