To celebrate the release of Disney’s Wish, their new animated feature that helps celebrate the studio’s 100th birthday, we had the pleasure of chatting with some of the creatives who helped make it all possible.

The film is an all-new musical-comedy welcoming audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen. Featuring the voices of Academy Award®-winning actor Ariana DeBose as Asha and Chris Pine as Magnifico.

Chatting to co-directors Chris Buck (Frozen, Frozen 2) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon), producers Peter Del Vecho (Frozen, Frozen 2) and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster Jones (Encanto), writer and Disney Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee (Frozen, Frozen 2), we talk about the film’s genesis and the various changes it had along the way, the unique challenges with the film’s animation and paying homage to Disney, casting DeBose and Pine in their roles, how they see the future of animation and what their Disney memories are over their extraordinary century of work.

We also chat with Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels who brought the film to life with its incredible songs, how the job came about and her (and her Mum’s) reactions, her starting point for the songs, and how she wanted audiences to feel/communicate with the music, having Ariana DeBose and Chris Pine sing them and her own childhood Disney memories, and much more.
