Fans of J.R.R. Tolkiens’ The Hobbit will be aware that Bard is not the most pivotal of characters in the original 1937 novel – but director Peter Jackson has brought the role to life on the big screen, and Luke Evans discusses his delight at being involved in such a memorable experience.

Evans also tells us of his delight at being given the opportunity to actually play a role in his native Welsh accent, also explains the fascinating methods taken to ensure that Bard always seems a foot or two higher than his dwarf counterparts – despite the actors being of a similar height in real life. He also tells us what it’s like playing a ruddy lovely bloke, for a change.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released on December 13, and you can read our review here.
