Guillermo del Toro continues to make up for lost creative time following his departure from The Hobbit and amongst the multitude of projects he currently has on the go, he’s now involved in a planned TV adaptation of The Incredible Hulk.

Collider is reporting that del Toro and Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick have been tasked with bringing this version to the small screen, with the Hellboy auteur on directing duties while the latter will script the first episode.

If that isn’t enough to get you Hulking out yet, there’s some more information which may bring a smile to the faces of those who were less than impressed with the CGI Hulk from the two motion pictures. Del Toro clearly has a lot of reverence for the material and although little has been mentioned regarding the actually tone of the series, he has this to say:

“We coalesced a respectful but powerful way of retelling the Banner/Hulk story in a fresh way.”

It’s still early days yet for the series and it’s being reported that it won’t be ready until late 2012. Until then, at least we can all sit back and relax, safe in the knowledge that the material in such capable hands.
