Lionsgate UK has released a new trailer for ‘Ghosts: The Possession of Button House,’ bringing the much-loved BBC comedy to cinemas this Halloween.
Directed by Simon Hynd, the feature-length family adventure reunites the stars, writers and creators behind the acclaimed sitcom, with Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond returning alongside Lolly Adefope, Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe.
Set to haunt cinemas across the UK and Ireland from October 23, ‘Ghosts: The Possession of Button House’ marks the next chapter for one of Britain’s most successful comedy series of recent years. The newly released trailer teases plenty of supernatural chaos, laugh-out-loud moments and the return of the eccentric spirits that have made Button House a fan-favourite destination.
The move to the big screen follows the enormous success of ‘Ghosts’ on BBC One. The series ran for five acclaimed seasons, with its final episode attracting an audience of 7.2 million viewers. It also became the most-watched comedy series in the UK during 2023, cementing its place as one of the nation’s most beloved sitcoms.
The franchise’s popularity has extended beyond the UK, inspiring a successful American adaptation that is currently airing its fifth season.
Behind the scenes, Baynton, Farnaby, Howe-Douglas, Howick, Rickard and Willbond serve as executive producers on the film. Jill Forbes executive produces for Monumental, while Eva Yates serves as executive producer for BBC Film.
